🎶 La coreografia di danza, creata dalla compagnia Company.Mov, di cui Sofia Papa è membro, ha tradotto in movimento i principi della piezoelettricità, il fenomeno fisico per cui alcuni materiali sono in grado di convertire energia meccanica – una spinta, una pressione, una vibrazione - in elettricità.

👏 Sofia Papa, a Ph.D. student at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, has won first prize in the international “Dance Your PhD” contest, organized by the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the journal Science.
🎶 The dance choreography, created by Company.Mov—of which Sofia Papa is a member—translated the principles of piezoelectricity into movement. Piezoelectricity is the physical phenomenon whereby certain materials are capable of converting mechanical energy—such as a push, pressure, or vibration—into electricity.

HACelebrating my best friend and husband @drinflammation in Washington, DC for @aaasorg was one of the highlights of my life.
Being there with his colleagues and seeing the incredible humans who contribute to science, engineering and enviroment was humbling. Their entire lives were dedicated to service and scientific innovations.
My baby became a Fellow of the #AAAS for his work on decoding the molecular basis of chronic inflammation. The induction ceremony this last Friday was beautiful and heartfelt.This is a lifetime achievement and as I know my bunny so well, it is just the beginning. I am proud 🤍

YELast week, my team at AJ+ (@ajplus) formally received the Silver medal at the prestigious AAAS Kavli Science Awards (@aaasorg) for our documentary on parosmia, a COVID-induced condition that causes your sense of smell to go completely haywire.
For those who might not know, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is the largest general scientific society in the world and is also responsible for the journal *Science.*
I delivered this pre-recorded speech but hesitated to post it because I generally dislike all the speeches I deliver (plus, it seemed very canned ... but that's because it was meant to be lol).
The documentary that won the award was a herculean effort that was pitched – and worked on – by my former colleague (and friend!) @adrienneblaine, as well as @shadirahimi07, Mat Sesti, Michael Bendeck, Enrique Huaiquil, Nanako Pierce, Corinna Wollmann, Brian Boenau, and more!
