After launch, the spacecraft will complete two large, high Earth orbits before setting course for the Moon. It will fly around the far side of the Moon and return directly to Earth without entering lunar orbit.
The Artemis II crew includes Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen. During the first two days of the mission, the crew will check Orion's systems near Earth, including life-support performance. Artemis II is expected to take astronauts farther from Earth than any human mission before, surpassing the record set by Apollo 13.
