From Denver to Durango, this one’s a classic for a reason. Big passes, long stretches above treeline, and enough access points to towns that it actually works with a set amount of PTO or a well-timed leave.
🏕️ Long Trail (Vermont)
~273 miles | ~2.5–4 weeks
The OG thru-hike. Shorter, rugged, and surprisingly demanding, but doable in a month or less if you’re ready. Green tunnels, mud, and maple-flavored treats the whole way!
🗻 John Muir Trail (California)
~211 miles | ~2–3 weeks
Short by thru-hike standards, huge by any other metric. High Sierra after High Sierra, and one of the few world-class trails you can knock out in a long vacation (permits willing).

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: traveling doesn’t have to be expensive!! These are some of the easiest ways to save tons of money no matter where you’re going. 💸
One thing I will NEVER do again is arrive in a new country without internet, so I always install an @airalo eSIM before boarding my flight. Airalo has plans in more than 200 countries and regions, and I’ll either install a regional plan or a country-specific plan depending on how many countries I’m visiting. ✈️

THOne of the best camp spots in the Sierra Nevada ⛺️🏔️
📍 Big Pine Lakes in Inyo National Forest
This was my second time backpacking here and it still felt unreal. Sitting by the lake at sunset with these peaks glowing never gets old. Easily one of my favorite places to camp.
Trail Info:
🥾 Trailhead: Big Pine Creek North Fork
📏 Distance: Around 9–12 miles round trip (7 lakes total, this is Second Lake)
📈 Elevation gain: Around 2,900 ft
💪 Difficulty: Moderate (5/10)
🗓 Best season: Summer through early fall (early winter is quieter)
🎫 Permits required for overnight trips (day hikes don’t need one). Permits available at Recreation.gov @recreation_gov
🧭 I plan routes and navigation with @alltrails
🎒 If you’re new to backpacking, renting gear from @rei is a great way to start
Always Leave No Trace and protect these places 🌎

MAthe best solo adventures to date: backpacking the famous grizzly - divide - talus route in tombstone territorial park during peak fall
just under 30 miles & 10k ft ele
this ended up being the perfect solo adventure because the once you get to talus lake, there’s so many side quests & areas to explore
some tips
- first week of September is often peak fall colors
- permit system stops running after first week of September
- for those hiking in/out I would do grizzly -> talus (2 nights) -> divide -> grizzly
- for those flying in/out, 2 nights talus, 1 night divide, 1-2 more nights talus
- for those doing a mix, I’d prefer hiking in & flying out but there is less elevation gain exiting than walking in

NIDay 201 living out of two backpacks and solo traveling the world.
Last year I sold everything I owned in the U.S., booked a one-way ticket to Mexico, and went fully remote as a solo business owner. Now I work from anywhere as a full-time UGC creator (making content for brands + management)

My best advice? If you’re young and healthy, stop chasing stuff. Materialism is SHIT. Experiences, lessons, and the people you meet along the way are worth more than anything you can buy.

I turn 30 next year
I didn’t expect that number to make me question something I love.
The first time it happened was in a hostel common room.
Everyone was talking about gap years, university breaks, “figuring life out.” and for a second I felt slightly out of place.
Not old.
Just… different.
I started wondering if backpacking had an invisible age limit.
If maybe I should have done more of this earlier.
If it would slowly become harder from here.
But the more I traveled, the more I noticed something else.
I met people in their 30s, 40s, even 50s
not on vacation, not escaping
but choosing this lifestyle consciously.
They weren’t chasing chaos.
They were traveling with intention.
And that changed my perspective.
Backpacking in your 20s can be about discovery.
In your 30s, it can feel more grounded.
Less about proving, more about aligning.
It doesn’t feel heavier.
If anything, it feels clearer.
Maybe travel doesn’t belong to an age.
Maybe it just grows with you.
