TE𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗛𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗔𝗭 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱
@bongohive , in collaboration with the ICT Association of Zambia (@ictassociationzm), has launched the State of Developer Ecosystem in Zambia Survey 2025 to better understand the local tech ecosystem. The initiative was officially launched in Lusaka, with the Minister of Technology and Science @motszambia_official, Hon. Felix Mutati, officiating the event.
The survey aims to gather data on the skills, aspirations, and challenges of Zambian developers, providing a clearer picture of the country’s innovation landscape. ICTAZ committed to supporting the initiative, encouraging its nationwide membership to participate and pledging to assist with its promotion and implementation.
For years, Zambia had relied on foreign datasets to inform tech-related strategies. This survey is expected to deliver locally sourced, Zambian-owned insights that will guide policy, investment, and educational planning.
Hon. Mutati underscored the importance of data in driving effective policy. He said past successes in government interventions were largely due to data-backed decisions. He explained that the survey would help shape the implementation of Zambia’s digital transformation strategy, especially in areas such as innovation, digital skills, and entrepreneurship.
He added that the tech sector had potential to surpass mining in its economic contribution, but needed better execution and commitment from innovators. He urged youth to build sustainable ventures and look beyond grants or competitions.
