THThese are the terrible stories that are tough to see, but need to be shared.
This 31’ center console was carrying nine people who were returning from Block Island, RI returning to Old Saybrook, CT. Apparently the boat hit the east-facing breakwall at the mouth of the Connecticut River at high speeds. The boat had 9 people onboard. Six people were rescued and taken to the hospital. The body of one on board was found an hour after the crash and pronounced dead on the scene. There are still currently two missing.
If you are the captain running the boat at night, slow down. Doesn’t matter how well you know the local area or not, just simply slow down. You are the the one completely in control and there is no rush to get there. If others onboard are pressuring you, tell them to shut the fuck up, so you can pay attention. I can’t stress this enough; while navigating at night, please SLOW DOWN.
Praying for all involved in this tragic story.
