As-salāmu ʿalaykum 🤍
After the prayer, Imam Mustafa Brent al-Muʿtaẓ shared an important reminder for our community as we begin turning our hearts toward Ramadan.
📚 Upcoming 4-Part Siyam Series
A structured series breaking down the fiqh of fasting, designed to properly prepare us for Ramadan — spiritually, mentally, and practically. This series will cover the rulings, wisdom, and intentions behind fasting so we enter the month with clarity and purpose.
🚐 Reminder:
The Imam also reminded the community about the van class, encouraging consistency in seeking knowledge and staying connected.
The core reminder was powerful and sobering:
Do not take time for granted. Do not take Ramadan for granted.
He reflected on a moment from the past when people were reminded that not everyone will reach the next Ramadan. An elderly brother later echoed that reminder — and soon after, he passed away before reaching the month.
Allah reminds us:
“Every soul shall taste death.” (Qur’an 3:185)
And the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Take advantage of five before five: your life before your death…” (al-Ḥākim)
Ramadan is not guaranteed. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.
What is guaranteed is that Allah is Al-Razzāq (The Provider) — and He gives when we ask sincerely.
Now is the time to:
• Make the intention for Ramadan
• Ask Allah to allow us to reach it
• Prepare the heart before the body
• Seek knowledge before the month arrives
May Allah allow us to reach Ramadan, benefit from it, and leave it forgiven and renewed. Āmīn.

Ironically, as we honored the fight for human rights, ICE made their way in. A reminder that THE MOVEMENT was preparing us for this 60 years ago — and that the time for action IS NOW.

REHad a great chat with the wonderful Anaha residents during our first Coffee Talk! ☕️ We delved into community updates and upcoming priorities for the 2024 legislative session. I appreciate the discussion and issues raised regarding Kamakee Street lanes, homelessness in the community, flooding on Queen Street, and noise levels. I will be contacting state and city agencies to address these issues.
