Really easy mending technique to fix a hole in a knit jumper 💚 I found this jumper in a charity shop & it had a little hole in the shoulder but loved the colour and knew all it needed was a little darn 🪡 Steps: - Get needle and wool or embroidery thread (you want the thread or wool you use to match the weight of the yarn used to make the jumper so I went for embroidery thread as is it was the most similar!) - Stitch vertical lines over the hole making sure it is wider than the hole and all the stitches are close together - Using another piece of thread, weave horizontally over the hole, under and over the vertical stitches - Keep going till the hole is fully covered - Finished!! #darningtutorial #mending #mendingmatters #knitjumper #darning

Who cares if someone else sees it; it's a convo starter for sure! 2. Do some trial runs. Your first few repairs are an opportunity to learn some techniques, build your confidence and pick up tricks. Choose something to fix that's a little less precious than an irreplaceable fairisle sweater that's been in the family for yonks. 3. Forget perfect. Your stitches will be wobbly. Your colour choices might clash. That's okay. You'll look back fondly on those first few mends one day. 4. Keep it small for quick wins. Pick projects with teeny tiny holes or well-worn patches, not gigantic black holes that will have you stitching for days🕳️ 5. Watch some mend-a-long videos. Pause, slow down, repeat whenever you need to. Or, maybe pop along to your local repair cafe for some IRL demos and tips from a wise darning magician.
