Here’s a preview of something we’ve been working on to showcase the capability of our DTI-built spec on the 2027 Freightliner M2-106 Plus dump trucks.
This setup is designed to be a true under-CDL power unit, featuring a 12K front axle and 21K rear axle while staying at 26,000 GVWR. Powered by a 330HP Cummins L9 paired with a 6-speed Allison 3500RDS, it delivers the strength and durability businesses need without stepping into CDL territory.
In this test we hooked it up to a trailer with two skid steers and a few yards of recycled asphalt, bringing the gross combined weight to 49,620 lbs. It’s a great example of how this truck can serve as a capable power unit perfect for a company’s Class A CDL driver to run while still maintaining the flexibility of an under-CDL truck.
With air ride suspension for a smooth ride, we came away very impressed with how this setup performs.
