Oggi voglio raccontarvi la storia di Serena, una giovane paziente che è venuta in ospedale qualche giorno fa a causa di una cistite per la quale pensava di poter semplicemente prendere qualche antibiotico in pastiglie e tornare subito alla sua routine, ma le cose non sono state così semplici. Dopo l’urinocoltura, abbiamo scoperto che la sua infezione era causata da una E. coli resistente a tutti gli antibiotici per via orale e che quindi doveva essere ricoverata in ospedale per fare antibiotici in flebo attivi su questo germe resistente. Serena aveva usato spesso antibiotici in autoprescrizione per cistiti ricorrenti Vi parlo di questo perchè oggi è la giornata europea degli antibiotici I batteri diventano resistenti agli antibiotici per tante ragioni, ma anche e soprattutto perché gli antibiotici si usano troppo e male Gli antibiotici, se usati impropriamente, possono rendere i batteri più forti e resistenti.... Ogni anno nel mondo muoiono milioni di persone a causa delle infezioni da batteri resistenti agli antibiotici. Si prevede che nel 2050 sara’ la prima causa di morte al mondo con quasi 40 milioni di morti ogni anno. Questo è un problema enorme e deve riguardare tutti noi ..... Tutti possiamo fare qualcosa perché non arrivi il giorno in cui una semplice infezione non potrà più essere trattata con gli antibiotici disponibili. Ecco alcune cose che possiamo fare per proteggere noi stessi e gli altri.... Ci sono alcune cose molto semplici che ognuno di noi può fare: - Assumere antibiotici solo quando prescritti dal medico e rispettando la dose, gli intervalli e i tempi di trattamento prescritti. - Non prendere antibiotici per il raffreddore o l’influenza! - Prendere antibiotici solo per trattare le infezioni causate da batteri. - Evitare di chiedere con insistenza antibiotici a medici e farmacisti Hashtags: #ECDC #EAAD #AntimicrobialResistance #advertising @ecdc.eu
