TSBackdoor plays test your structure and awareness. ⚠️
In lateral situations and backdoor tips, your eyes must lead the movement. The moment the puck changes sides, your head and vision need to snap to the new threat. If your eyes are late, your save will be late.
From there, your hands and upper body must arrive with intent.
• Track first.
• Rotate through your core.
• Keep your hands projected in front of you.
If your hands drift back or your chest opens too early, you lose coverage and control. Strong goaltending in these moments isn’t about desperation — it’s about arriving square, balanced, and ready to finish the play.

MA1. Every goalie has their own style.
No two goalies look exactly the same, and that’s the beauty of it. Once you understand that goaltending isn’t cookie-cutter, you stop comparing and start appreciating the craft in others. Every goalie’s style is built through their experiences, goalies who get this expand their toolbox!
2. Iron sharpens iron, stay open minded.
When you chat through a game situation with another goalie and you both present your ideas respectfully with an open mind, you’ll both leave better at your craft (either strengthening why a method is stronger or insight to something new). Iron sharpens iron when the goal is growth, not ego.
3. It’s a community not a race.
Goaltending can feel isolating, more than it needs to. But the ones who lean into camaraderie find strength, understanding, joy and belonging. Being a good person, a supportive teammate and member of the goalie community, will always outlast any stat line(& you can have both)!
4. Competition doesn’t mean conflict.
You’re often competing for the same net with the goalie you train with most, but many of the deciding factors of playing time is out of your control. So with odds already stacked against goalies, it’s better to have a friend who understands what you’re both going through at the rink than an enemy to make it feel even heavier.
5. Respect runs deeper than rivalry.
True pros know, when one goalie succeeds, it raises the standard for everyone! Watching another goalie thrive shouldn’t threaten you; it should inspire you. Every great save, every comeback, every act of resilience becomes fuel for mastering your position.
