METhe biggest mistake IB students make is pulling all nighters.
I slept at 10:30 pm every night during the IB.
No exceptions.
Didn’t matter if I had a test the next day.
Didn’t matter if I wasn’t fully prepared.
Didn’t matter if homework or an assignment was due.
I slept.
Because sleep wins exams.
It sharpens critical thinking especially for maths.
It improves study efficiency, memory consolidation and recall.
You memorise faster and think clearer.
All-nighters don’t help.
They slow you down.
You think studying 3 extra hours will save you.
It won’t.
Sleeping and finishing it the next day is always more effective.
I saw this play out in my class.
Someone studied until 4 am for a 9 am maths test.
She failed.
I slept 9 hours.
I got a 7.
And I learned the hard way once.
I slept only 6 hours before a CS exam.
I started dozing off.
Couldn’t think clearly.
Ended up with a 6.
Sleep isn’t a luxury.
It’s a performance tool.
Protect it.

IB 4 STUDENTS
The second material gets challenging, you give up. You blame excuses, blame the teacher, the syllabus, anyone but yourself. You avoid difficult concepts entirely and then wonder why your grades never improve. Newsflash: you’re not failing because you’re dumb. You’re failing because you quit.
IB 5-6 STUDENTS
You don’t give up, I’ll give you that. You grind through the struggle. You reread textbooks for hours. You jump straight into past papers thinking practice makes perfect.
But here’s the truth: textbooks don’t work. You’re not retaining information, just understanding it (which is not the same thing). So when exam day comes, you lose marks on key words from the markscheme because you never actually memorized them. And jumping straight into past papers? Useless. You didn’t have the content retained first, so you’re just wasting precious papers and reinforcing gaps.
You’re working hard. But you’re working dumb.
IB 7 STUDENTS
They don’t give up AND they study strategically. They memorize ALL content first, cover to cover, keyword by keyword, exactly what the markscheme wants.
By memorizing, you guarantee you won’t lose marks at all. You have the EXACT answer stored in memory. So when those long answer questions come up? You pull information immediately. No pausing. No thinking. No second guessing. Just instant recall and full marks.
Stop grinding inefficiently. Study like the top performers. Memorize first, then attack the papers. Transform your struggle into that IB45.

NEThe unofficial IBDP past-paper archive known as “IB Docs” has gone offline in what students describe as its longest shutdown in recent years — less than two months before May exams.
The site, which is not affiliated with the International Baccalaureate (IB), hosts copyrighted exam papers and mark schemes without authorization. Because the IB owns the intellectual property to its assessments, redistribution can trigger copyright complaints and domain suspensions — especially as exam season approaches.
Reddit threads show M26 and M27 students scrambling for mirror links and debating whether to download 17GB compressed backups before more sites disappear. While similar outages have happened “like clockwork” in past years, many say this disruption feels longer and more widespread.
For many candidates, past papers are central to revision — making the timing of the shutdown particularly significant.
