UWI’ve been MIA outside of IG stories and here’s why:
So… Lumi and I officially have more in common than I ever expected.
She was just diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) a condition where the discs between the bones of the spine start to bulge or rupture, putting pressure on the spinal cord. It can cause pain, loss of coordination, weakness, and in some cases, paralysis.
I live with a spinal cord injury myself. Mine was caused by trauma. Hers is degenerative. But the outcome? Surprisingly similar.
We both have to be cautious about movement.
We both rely on support with physical, emotional, and environmental.
And we’re both figuring out how to adapt to a new version of life with spinal damage.
For her, that means no more jumping off the couch or twisting too fast. For me, it means navigating the world from a seated position. But for both of us, it means learning patience, leaning on others, and taking things one careful step (or roll) at a time.
Two different species.
Two spinal injuries.
One deeply shared experience.
We’re healing together… with rest, care, and unconditional love.
One day, one paw, one push at a time.
