CUAvengers: Infinity War is a massive superhero film by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, based on characters from Marvel Comics. The movie brings together almost every major hero of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as they face their most dangerous enemy, Thanos. Thanos is a powerful warlord who believes that the universe is suffering because of overpopulation, and his solution is to collect the six Infinity Stones to wipe out half of all life to “restore balance.”
The story begins with Thanos already possessing the Power Stone and attacking the ship carrying the Asgardians after the events of Thor: Ragnarok. He defeats Hulk, kills Loki, and takes the Space Stone from the Tesseract. Hulk is sent to Earth to warn Doctor Strange and Tony Stark about Thanos’s arrival. Soon, Thanos’ followers called the Black Order arrive on Earth to collect more stones, leading to multiple battles happening simultaneously across the universe.
The Avengers split into different groups to try to stop Thanos. Tony Stark, Doctor Strange, and Peter Parker travel to the planet Titan where they team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Meanwhile, Captain America, Black Widow, and Falcon go to Wakanda to protect Vision, who has the Mind Stone embedded in his head. Wakanda becomes the location of a huge battle between the Avengers and Thanos’s army.
One of the most powerful moments in the film is when Thor arrives in Wakanda with his new weapon Stormbreaker, giving hope to the heroes. At the same time on Titan, the heroes almost defeat Thanos with a well-planned attack, but their plan fails when emotions take over. Thanos eventually collects all the Infinity Stones, including the Time Stone from Doctor Strange and the Mind Stone from Vision.
The film ends with one of the most shocking endings in superhero history. After Thor nearly kills Thanos, Thanos snaps his fingers using the Infinity Gauntlet. This event, later called the Snap, causes half of all living beings in the universe to turn to dust. Many beloved heroes such as Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange disappear.
