TRThank you @thomann.music for helping out with making this electronic music workshop for local kids here in @vanylven municipality come to reality. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday after school hours I’ll be ready to give the kids some experience in drum machines, synthesis, samplers. I’ll bring a bunch and see what they find interesting, and then we take it from there! Looking forward to it!

POThe modular listening lab was packed today for our education program on modular synthesis. Thanks to Loudoun County Public Library for hosting this event. So many questions from both kids and adults!

FRHere is a super cut of my spring set I am workshopping. I am really happy with how these tracks are coming along. They translated very well out of the studio for their debut last Friday. HASketch from last night as I wind down studio time this week. I have been really enjoying using this mini modular “dark easel” from @makenoisemusic and I work on supporting material for my next tracks.
I am determined however to make sure I keep my focus on actually feeling something from the music rather than letting the thinking process take over too much. Some of these systems can get very heady quick, but this one feels creative and is creating some really interesting sounds and inner thoughts as I develop them.
It’s like watching a movie that unfolds and you don’t know where it is going to go either.

ASLimitations can be helpful. Working with just a few modules, I find myself using my hands more where I'd reach for a cable to automate a parameter. Patching a larger system, you can paint yourself into a corner where there's nothing left to play. You get obsessed with dialing in the perfect modulation. Harnessing the voltages so nothing escapes the optimal range. It's good to lose some control.
