Tornado warning 🗣️ In the United States, tornado sirens are used as part of an outdoor warning system to alert people when dangerous weather is approaching. These sirens are most commonly activated when the National Weather Service issues a tornado warning, meaning that a tornado has been detected on radar or has been seen by observers. Sirens may also sound if a funnel cloud or tornado has been confirmed near a community, or if it is expected to reach the area soon. In some cases, local authorities can activate them when there are extremely strong winds (usually over 70 mph), large hail, or other serious hazards. It is important to understand that these sirens are designed mainly for people who are outdoors. When someone hears a tornado siren, they should immediately go inside, seek shelter, and get more information from sources like weather apps, radio, or television. #stormchasing #tornado #tornadowatch #tornadowarning #stormchaser

WEATHER UPDATE: TUESDAY, APRIL 21, 2026 A Flood Advisory remains in effect, and forecasters with the National Weather Service continue to predict additional rainfall today and tomorrow (Tuesday and Wednesday). The City is closely monitoring weather conditions and has already made a number of decisions to ensure the safety of residents and visitors. 🔵CITY FACILITIES & SERVICES ▪️At this time, there are no changes to residential Solid Waste & Recycling services. ▪️The Comal River flow remains too high for recreation, with poor water clarity and debris along the riverbanks and at the Tube Chute dam. Therefore, access to recreation on the Comal River in New Braunfels remains temporarily closed. City officials will continue to reevaluate river conditions to determine when river recreation can resume. ▪️Recreation on the Guadalupe River inside the city limits of New Braunfels is currently not affected by recent rains, but City officials urge caution and the use of life jackets for any water recreation activity. ▪️The Landa Park Golf Course is closed until 11am, with the possibility of continued closures should rains continue. The Golf Course Pro Shop will continue its normal hours of operation. 🔵ROADS & LOW WATER CROSSING PREP ▪️City street crews have staged barricades at low water crossings and areas that are prone to street flooding. ▪️Fire and Police officials have prepared flood response vehicles, including swift water rescue boats should they become necessary. ▪️Residents can find updated local road closure information at newbraunfels.gov/roadclosures 🔵CITY MEETINGS & EVENTS ▪️At this time, there have been no changes to City meetings or events. Decisions on postponements or cancellations will be made should weather conditions decline. City staff will continue to monitor updates from the National Weather Service, and any announcements about City facilities or services will be posted on the City’s website at newbraunfels.gov and on the City’s social media accounts. A waterspout spotted off the coast of Ocean City on Monday was captured in social media videos, briefly turning heads along the beach but posing no danger, according to the National Weather Service. The phenomenon, which resembles a tornado over water, formed just offshore around midday before drifting farther out to sea, forecasters said. Waterspouts share many of the same characteristics as tornadoes, though they are often weaker and short-lived. Alec Butner, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Wakefield, Virginia, said the waterspout was tracked around noon just off the coast of Ocean City. 🎥: Freedom Baitsusa

We’re used to the weather fluctuating during Spring, but climate change is making temperature swings crazier than usual. An unusually early heat wave is gripping Los Angeles and much of the Southwest, putting California’s already fragile snowpack, and therefore its water supplies, at risk. Temperatures in downtown Los Angeles on Friday are forecast to reach 98F (37C), coming within a degree of the highest reading for the month set on March 29, 1879, according to the National Weather Service. Across the region, temperatures are expected to rise 20F to 30F above normal, with several daily records likely to fall and some areas potentially breaking all-time March highs, the agency said. #ThisIsClimateChange MAP SOURCE (link in bio): Climate Central Climate Shift Index® Global Map

Tornado warning in Michigan 👀🌪️ In mid-April 2026, Michigan was hit by a significant severe weather outbreak that included multiple thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy rain, and numerous tornadoes. The most intense activity occurred during the night of April 14 into April 15, when a powerful line of storms moved across the state. According to the National Weather Service, at least 8–9 tornadoes were confirmed across Michigan during this event. These tornadoes mainly affected the southern and central parts of the state, including areas such as Ann Arbor, Detroit suburbs, and Saginaw County. Many of them were rated EF0 to EF1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, meaning they had wind speeds roughly between 65 and 110 mph (105–177 km/h). Florida Colder Than Parts of Alaska The East Coast just experienced an unusual weather reversal as a powerful Arctic blast pushed deep into the Southeast. In late January and early February, parts of Florida — including Orlando and South Florida — saw temperatures plunge into the upper teens and low 20s°F, with wind chills making it feel even colder. This is far below Florida’s typical winter temperatures, which usually hover around 70–75°F. During the same period, some parts of Alaska were actually warmer, with temperatures in the upper 20s°F — making them milder than Florida. Meteorologists point to a disrupted jet stream pattern, which allowed frigid Arctic air to spill far south while keeping parts of the far North relatively warmer. The result was a rare cold snap that transformed a region known for palm trees, beaches, and theme parks into something that felt closer to a deep freeze. The sudden drop in temperature also had visible effects on local wildlife, including cold-stunned iguanas, and prompted safety alerts across the state. The National Weather Service issued real-time updates, urging residents to take precautions during the extreme and unusual cold. Events like this highlight how weather patterns can flip in unexpected ways, even in places traditionally known for warmth. #snowstorm #winterstorm #florida #wether

Live power lines across the highway during a thunderstorm. Heavy rain killed visibility. Lightning revealed sparks dancing on asphalt. Touch the ground while connected to the truck and you complete the circuit. Drive over a live wire and 50,000 volts arc through the entire vehicle. Safety protocol says stay in the cab and call for help. But with lines sparking unpredictably and zero visibility, survival becomes instinct. The National Weather Service reports over 400 power line contact incidents annually during severe weather. Many are fatal. ➕ Comment ‘BONUS’ and I’ll send you a free Beginners Guide + 350 Prompt Bible to Master AI 🦾 #trucking #powerlinesafety #severeweather #truckerlife #safety

In a terrifying display of nature's power, storm chaser **Aaron Rigsby** captured high-definition footage of a damaging tornado striking a building in **Rockton, Illinois**, during the late afternoon of **Friday, April 17, 2026**. The video shows the violent vortex directly impacting a structure, sending debris into the air as it moved through the northwestern Winnebago County area. This tornado was part of a significant severe weather outbreak that hammered northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin throughout the week. The National Weather Service in Chicago has already confirmed at least six tornadoes from this specific Friday episode, including EF-1 intensity twisters in nearby **Harrison** and **Roscoe**. Beyond the wind damage, the region has been struggling with torrential rainfall, with 4 to 6 inches causing the **Rock River** to rise substantially. Rigsby’s footage has quickly gone viral, serving as a stark reminder of the intensity of the 2026 spring storm season. While multiple homes and outbuildings were damaged in the Rockton and Harrison areas, local authorities are still assessing the full extent of the destruction and checking for injuries. #Rockton #Illinois #Tornado #StormChasing #AaronRigsby ExtremeWeather
