SPOILER ALERT……….The UV laser is AWESOME on glass.
Etching clear glass on a diode laser is a pain, black paint or some other treatment. A Co2 laser works decent, but fractures the glass and leaves sharps and can be inconsistent. But a UV laser, game changer for clear glass!
I picked the weirdest shape glass I had to see how the rotary can handle holding it. Zero issues and super easy to setup. Of course tumblers would be a breeze, and the Lumos Ultra can even do 40 oz tumblers. It was also very forgiving with the tapers and curves on this glass.
The software was a breeze and even lets you see a 360 view before hitting go. Because the laser isn’t even out yet, I had to experiment with the settings. That didn’t take long at all. Once I got good results I etched this glass on the first try. Couldn’t be any easier.
Wowzers, look how good this came out…straight off the machine, zero cleanup, with a smooth feel. For laughs I washed and scrubbed it with an abrasive pad. Once it dried it was exactly the same.
