OpenTTD is a free, open-source business simulation game based on the 1995 classic Transport Tycoon Deluxe by Chris Sawyer. It expands on the original by allowing players to build transport empires using road, rail, air, and sea, while adding features like larger maps, improved user interface, AI customisation, mod support, multi-language options, and cross-platform compatibility. The game supports both co-operative and competitive multiplayer for up to 255 players over LAN or the Internet. Licensed under the GNU GPL v2.0, OpenTTD remains actively developed, with contributions from a global community and ongoing updates now managed via GitHub since 2018.
