As geocélulas são sistemas tridimensionais de confinamento celular, geralmente fabricados em polietileno de alta densidade (PEAD), utilizados para estabilização, reforço e melhoria da capacidade de suporte do solo em diversas obras de engenharia.
Quando expandidas sobre o terreno, formam uma estrutura semelhante a uma colmeia. Ao serem preenchidas com solo, brita ou material granular, criam um efeito de confinamento lateral, reduzindo a movimentação das partículas e aumentando significativamente a resistência à deformação.
Nas construções, as geocélulas são aplicadas em:
• Fundações superficiais, melhorando solos fracos
• Pavimentação de rodovias e vias urbanas
• Estabilização de taludes e encostas
• Pátios industriais e estacionamentos
• Plataformas logísticas e aeroportuárias
• Controle de erosão em áreas inclinadas
O principal benefício técnico é a redistribuição de cargas, diminuindo tensões concentradas no subleito. Isso permite reduzir a espessura das camadas estruturais, gerar economia de material e prolongar a vida útil da obra.
Outro fator importante é o controle de recalques diferenciais, especialmente em solos arenosos, argilosos moles ou áreas alagadiças. Além disso, o sistema melhora a drenagem e estabilidade superficial, reduzindo a formação de trilhas de roda e fissuras.
As geocélulas representam uma solução moderna da engenharia geotécnica, combinando eficiência estrutural, redução de custos e maior durabilidade em obras de infraestrutura.
