MA3 essentials for paddleboarding in spring 🤙🏻
1. dress for the water temperature not the air temperature 🌊 as tempting as it might be to start whipping out the swimmers as the sun starts to shine, it's important to remember that the water is still cold & the risks of cold water shock are still very real - on average, in the UK, we're usually waiting until late june/july for the waters to be warm enough (+ 15°C) to alleviate that risk
2. pack a spare change of clothes 🛍 useful for if you do get soaked, so that you can change out of your wet clothes asap & sometimes it's just handy to pack an extra layer to put on if you stop off for food or drink on your journey too 🤙🏻
3. don't forget to wear your sunscreen 🧴 we really should be spf'ing daily regardless of the season, but i'll use spring, and these welcomed first rays of sunshine, to remind you that sunscreen is an important part of your paddling kit - if you're not yet ready to switch from bobble hats to peaked caps then remember to slap some on your face & lips before you head out (and let's not forget about the backs of our hands either! 🙈)
‼️ if you want to help keep our ocean healthy, please consider using a reef safe sunscreen - there's lots of choice available nowadays and to suit all price ranges too 💙🪸

NADo it alone and do it scared, it’s sooooo worth it!!! I almost called off my solo adventure because I didn’t sleep well the night before but I am so glad I pushed myself to go because I had the most special encounter with the most beautiful manatee!🩵✨
Shoutout to @kahu.tribe for helping me warm up after I got out of the water!
We’re getting to the end of the cold season so the manatees are all going to start moving back out to the gulf to eat really soon so I’m glad I got one last swim in with them! A friendly reminder that manatees are a protected marine mammal and they are not to be touched, chased, or fed as it alters their natural behavior and makes them more at risk for boat strikes! 🌊🧜🏼♀️🐚🤿✨🐬
