We’ve all been there… struggling for that first push up. A few tips from moi 😍: 1. Execute the move every single day. Use it as a part of your warm up. Even if you perform 2 reps either on your knees or on a slant - building muscle memory is key. 2. For us girls ( not to typecast🤪 ) it’s a little harder to execute that first push up, work with exercise bands to work the deeper muscles all fibres of your deltoid / triceps / serratus and more . 3. Activate then execute - activate all muscles will the band and then execute 2-3 reps ( Game changer tip thank me later ❤️) 4. Make sure you work with tempo and slow down the reps, like very very slow. Let your muscles strengthen at every phase of the move. The push press is an underrated, yet invaluable addition to a tall lifter’s arsenal. 3 reasons why: 1) At the shoulders’ most vulnerable position, you get the chance to give the weight a bit of a “boost“ to get out of it and achieve your lockout position. Once the weight gets heavy, that assistance can prove crucial. Bottom and ranges and tight joint angles can be a little bit harder on the elbows and shoulders when the arms are much longer. 2) To contrast with the first point, you now have the chance to perform a strict, unassisted eccentric. Whereas you had the ability to use help to push weight that could be heavier than your normal press overhead, you now have to deal with that heavy eccentric rep. This can prove to be great training for the traps and shoulders for both strength and hypertrophy. 3) Along with being a quintessential power developer and way to efficiently train proper force transfer, this can be a way for the knees of taller lifters to gain some durability. Since the torso gets to stay upright, the knees have to terminally flex and extend to send the bar up. This relies on dorsiflexion and general knee and quad strength. Lots of taller lifters have struggles with both of their ankles and knees, and this could help. #tallguytuesday #xlt #projectxlt
