Every time I read God’s word my mind is renewed. It has become my favorite book. Because it is not just any book…it is the living word of God. But there’s nothing like that first time reading scripture and realizing that you’ve been doing all the things that God clearly says NOT to do…in order to protect us not to control us. There is a huge difference between condemnation and conviction and although reading the Bible, especially for the first time, is not comfortable AT ALL because you are coming face to face and feeling the weight of your sin, there is no toxic shame coming from God in a way that feels like there is no way out. Conviction from the Holy Spirit is piercing but He is merciful and points to the way out—which is Jesus Christ. Who bore the weight of all our past, present, and future sin and did all the work on the cross for us. This doesn’t mean we abuse grace because we are forgiven but continue to abide in Him and His word because He knows what is best for us. “Anyone who believes the Holy Bible was written to suppress and control people has obviously never read it because the entire book points the way to personal freedom."🕊
