THRupert Lowe, MP for Great Yarmouth, has launched Restore Britain as a national political party after previously forming it as a movement following his suspension from Reform UK. He was suspended over allegations of threats against then chairman Zia Yusuf, though the Crown Prosecution Service later said there was insufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction.
Restore Britain is expected to operate as an umbrella party, partnering with local groups including Great Yarmouth First, through which Lowe intends to stand again. Senior Conservatives Susan Hall and Gavin Williamson are understood to be stepping back from advisory roles following its transition into a formal party.
The BBC’s East of England political editor Andrew Sinclair described Lowe as having a reputation as a “maverick MP” and noted his belief that there is space for another right-leaning party claiming independence from mainstream politics.
