Yes it’s that time of year again. Where retailers exploit what is arguably their most powerful brand asset: their windows. I’ve lost count of the number of Christmas windows I imagined and designed with my team at Harvey Nics, but each of them born from creativity and craft. Always true spectacle. And of course my Retail Design Director, James, and I will be out and about in London Town reviewing the best of the Christmas windows, in our third series of Windows of Wonder, because let’s face it, it’s the windows and the experience of the brand that really give us the feels at Christmas, not just the ads... Earlier this year, the @tiltingthelens team travelled to New York to create this short film for the @gucciequilibrium Impact Report. The camera follows me from the Meatpacking District, to the High Line, and to the pier at sunset. The film narrates my evolving theory of change regarding disability and accessibility. Like me, it too is a work in progress, and it forms the strategy for Gucci’s work in this space, where alongside @lucindarosso, TtL co-leads the strategic ambition of “Creating greater opportunities for Disabled people at Gucci”. So far, this has permeated recruitment, retail design, introducing assistive technologies in-store, curriculum building and education, and accessibility beyond compliance on Gucci.com. Accessibility is an iterative journey; it requires continuous advocacy, investment, learning and creating meaningful space for community expertise. The work will never be done!
