💥 1 Test to Diagnose Rotator Cuff Tear and Fix It! 💥 Not sure if your shoulder pain is from a rotator cuff tear? This simple test can give you the answer—fast 👇 🔎 The Gerber Lift-Off Test Place the back of your hand on your lower back and try to lift it away. → Can’t do it or feel sharp pain? The subscapularis (a key cuff muscle) is likely compromised. Now here’s the key: ❌ Don’t rest it. ❌ Don’t ice it. ❌ Don’t stretch it. None of that builds the strength or stability you need to truly fix it. 🛠️ Do this instead: 🔧 Banded Extension – Fires up the posterior cuff + builds scap control 🏋️‍♂️ Incline Row + ER + Press – Combines pull, rotation, and press for full-range shoulder function 💥 Banded Knee Internal Rotation – Builds chain control + activates the front cuff 🎯 Banded Perturbations @ 90° – Challenges dynamic cuff stability where you’re weakest 🎯 These movements don’t just reduce pain—they rebuild the shoulder so it stays pain-free. 👉 DM the word “pain” and I'll send you a free shoulder pain fix demo with my team! #rotatorcufftear #rotatorcuff #shoulderpain #fixshoulderpain #comebackperformance #shoulderrehab #subscapularis #shoulderstrength #scapularcontrol #shouldermobility

💥Fix you Painful Rotator Cuff Tear 💥  Rotator cuff pain making your shoulder feel weak, unstable, or pinchy? Here’s what’s really happening — and how you can start fixing it today. When the external rotators lose strength or get irritated, the shoulder can’t stay centered in the socket. That’s when you feel clicking, weakness, and that sharp front-of-shoulder pain during lifts. Try these 2 movements to rebuild stability 👇 ✅ ER Isometric + Trunk Movement — teaches the cuff to hold the shoulder centered and stable even while the body moves. ✅ Prone W + Reach — strengthens the posterior cuff so you can lift without the shoulder rolling forward. Rebuild control first — strength and pain-free movement will follow. ✅ Save this for later ✅ Share with someone who needs this ✅ Don’t forget to follow for more helpful tips ✅ Want to fix your shoulder pain for good? A rotator cuff tear is an injury to one or more of the four muscles and tendons that stabilise the shoulder joint. The tear can be partial or complete, depending on the extent of the damage. These injuries can happen due to acute trauma, like lifting something heavy, or through wear and tear over time, especially in people who perform repetitive shoulder motions. Symptoms: ▪️Pain, especially with overhead activities or at night ▪️Weakness in the shoulder ▪️Limited range of motion ▪️Clicking or popping sounds in the shoulder during movement Diagnosis: Typically, diagnosis is made through a combination of a physical exam, imaging (like MRI or ultrasound), and patient history. Treatment Options: ▪️Conservative: Rest, physical therapy, osteopathic treatment, anti-inflammatory medications, and cortisone injections (not the best option) ▪️Surgical: In cases of a complete tear or when conservative treatment fails, surgery may be needed to repair the tendon. Healing Process for a Rotator Cuff Tear: A rotator cuff tear can be a painful and limiting injury, but with the right approach, recovery is within reach! Here’s what to expect in the healing journey: Partial Tear (No Surgery) ▪️Weeks 0-2: Rest, reduce inflammation ▪️Weeks 2-6: Rehab to regain mobility and strength ▪️Weeks 6-12: Gradual return to daily activities 💪🏾 ▪️Full Recovery: 3-6 months for most, but strength can improve up to a year! Complete Tear (Surgery Required) ▪️Weeks 0-6: Sling and protect the repair ▪️Weeks 6-12: Start gentle movement with guidance ▪️Months 3-6: Strengthen and rebuild ▪️Full Recovery: 6-12 months—patience is key! Remember, everyone’s journey is different, so trust the process and give your body time to heal! How does this happen?👇🏼 . ✅ Follow @bt.osteopathy for more health related content. . 💥The Rotator Cuff💥 . The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles and their tendons that surround the shoulder joint. . These muscles are the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis. . The main function of the rotator cuff is to provide stability to the shoulder joint and assist in various arm movements, especially those involving overhead and rotational motions. . A rotator cuff tear is one of the more common causes of disability and pain amongst adults. . Torn rotator cuffs will cause the shoulder to weaken. Daily activities, such as getting dressed and putting on clothes can be painful and difficult to do. . Injuries to the rotator cuff can be caused by a variety of factors, including: . 👉🏼Overuse: Repetitive overhead arm movements, such as in sports like baseball or swimming, or certain job-related activities, can lead to overuse injuries. . 👉🏼Trauma: A sudden impact or injury to the shoulder, like a fall or collision, can damage the rotator cuff. . 👉🏼Age-related degeneration: As people age, the tendons of the rotator cuff can degenerate and become more susceptible to injury. . 👉🏼 Poor posture: Incorrect posture can lead to muscle imbalances and increased stress on the rotator cuff muscles. . 👉🏼Muscle imbalances: Weakness or imbalances in the muscles around the shoulder can contribute to rotator cuff injuries. . 👉🏼Tendinitis: Inflammation of the rotator cuff tendons, often due to repetitive strain. . 👉🏼Bone spurs: Abnormal bone growth in the shoulder can impinge or irritate the rotator cuff tendons. . 👉🏼Ischemic rotator cuff tear: insufficient blood flow to the rotator cuff. . Rotator cuff injuries can range from mild inflammation (tendinitis) to partial tears or complete tears of the tendons. . 🚫This information is not medical advice and is intended for educational purposes only. I have an old subscap injury that flared up again recently - oddly enough the only thing that makes it feel better is full-send internal rotations. Despite it hurting, I’ve actually been able to continue progressing strength on this exercise, and it responds really well to the heavy loading. Curiously, a light set of 20 also kinda hurts to do but doesn’t really make it feel any better, I only get relief from maxing out. The key for me has been going hard while keeping volume low, as its volume that seems to be more irritating while intensity provides relief. I don’t think that just ignoring pain/injuries completely is necessarily the best advice, especially for major injuries, trauma, etc… but when it comes to relatively minor to even moderately painful stuff, I’d actually argue that just ignoring it *is* probably better advice than 95% of the random nocebic bs that I routinely see on the internet - yes, we can do a bit better than that, but I think being too fearful of load (and then compensating with a bunch of volume and trying a bunch of different exercises/drills/stretches/etc to try to fix it) is a more common problem than lifting “too heavy” at low volumes. My shoulder rehab here is basically just 1x5 DB internal rotations + reducing volume on the overhead pressing that seems to irritate it most. That’s it. This isn’t rehab advice for you or whatever your problem is, just sharing my experience with load vs volume when dealing with something painful.

Partial rotator cuff tears often create compensations in the upper body, causing not only shoulder pain but also neck tightness and reduced movement control. Physical therapy addresses these patterns by strengthening the rotator cuff, scapular stabilizers, and upper-back muscles to restore proper alignment and reduce overload on the cervical region. Manual therapy and mobility work improve joint motion, while progressive strengthening builds stability for lifting, reaching, and overhead activity. By treating both the tear and the secondary neck strain, PT helps patients regain function and prevent chronic irritation. #physicaltherapy #painrelief #recovery
