SCWe use a shampoo to get rid of sebum, dirt and other oils on our scalp or the hair near our scalp.
The 'thing' with shampoo is that shampoo itself is not super beneficial for your lengths. Shampoos make your hair more negatively charged which can cause friction between the hair fibers. shampoos can also slightly remove the protective lipids from your hair.
That’s why many shampoos also contain ingredients that make your hair more positively charged or ingredients that temporarily replenish those lost lipids.
But the best thing is to protect your hair against shampooing, and that’s exactly what a pre-shampoo does. It protects your hair against the 'negative' effects of shampoo.
There are two types of pre-shampoos.
1. The first type is like an oil treatment. You apply the oil onto your hair lengths and the shampoo will remove the oil and leave your hair lipids intact. You could also use a conditioner instead of oil.
2. The second type are pre-shampoos that are used for specific bond repair lines. These pre-shampoos are used as a first step in a bond repair line and often need to be applied on wet hair. They prepare your hair for the coming steps and for optimal functioning of the bond repair ingredients to increase the results. If a bond repair line contains a pre-shampoo I definitely recommend using it.
