He lovesssss people!! Cedar was sadly running as a stray in the outskirts of Turlock when he was picked up for killing a cat 💔 There were 8 other dogs running as strays with him, including the chihuahua Cardinal who is also euthanasia listed 💔 🐶 Cedar was not only running with other strays but also tested great with playful, social male dog Wilson. He’s a lover!! Just… no cats, given his history. Even though he is scared, Drax greeted me at the front of his kennel and let me take him outside. His legs shook the whole way but he did it!! Drax is just a baby at heart and he loves having support to do hard things. He finds comfort in people and will lay his head on your lap or tuck his head into your chest when he’s feeling insecure. When we left him in a yard outside, he dug is way into senior superstar Franklin’s yard so that he would have company 🥺 Imagine our surprise when we found them! 📌 Drax is an escape artist and as you just read, we learned that he can and will dig under a fence. Please do not leave him outside unattended. 🐶 Drax did great with other dogs! He had an unplanned off-leash play date with female Franklin and had a very planned off-leash play date with Hazel. He did amazing and coexisted very well! Drax was not a fan of pushy, overly dominant Sunny and gave him a warning growl before hiding behind me. He did not make any moves to escalate but was clearly uncomfortable. Bernice is not unfriendly with dogs, but is on guard and uncomfortable. She seems like she may want to play, but is defensive because she doesn’t know Hazel’s intentions. Bernice will likely need slow intros. She has potential to coexist but may prefer calmer dogs. ⭐️Bernice is sweet and full of life! Please honor your pledges and donate here: Memo/Note: SCARLETT 🔗 https://www.aarflove.org/donate Thank you! ❤️ —— 🚨 SCARLETT MUST BE ADOPTED OR RESCUED BY 5 PM ON 03/20/2026 OR SHE WILL BE EUTHANIZED. 🚨 Scarlett arrived at the shelter, already having had multiple litters, emaciated, in pain, and, as with many dogs who come to the shelter, very fearful. In her kennel, she would lie on her bed and growl. So the volunteers did what they usually do with a new, scared dog: daily visits and treat tossing. After a week or so, Scarlett began coming forward to accept the treats from familiar friends. Then, in a couple of weeks, she was at the front of her kennel with a wiggle, ready to come out. From that point forward, Scarlett showed her kind, gentle, and forgiving nature. With each walk, she became more and more relaxed, and now Scarlett shows an eagerness to approach and make new friends and get some snuggles, and of course, treats. She also approaches both small and large dogs at the fence with a little tail stub wiggle and sometimes play bows, but because of her hip/leg issues, she is left out of playgroups. She does, however, feel well enough to have a playful romp with a good stuffed toy. Scarlett requires rescue due to significant orthopedic abnormalities that are beyond the scope of the shelter’s resources. She is currently experiencing lameness and discomfort and will need further orthopedic evaluation and medical care. Scarlett is 2 years old, 64 pounds, up 6 pounds from her arrival weight. For more detailed medical information, please review her shelter notes. During my visit, he came forward eagerly for attention, leaning into pets, wagging his tail, and showing just how loving he can be. He was calm, well-mannered, and clearly ready to connect with someone who sees him for who he is. While the shelter notes list behaviors like mouthing during petting or biting at a leash, I did not see any of that during my visit. Of course, he wasn’t out walking with me, but it’s important to remember — Sid, like many young dogs, isn’t leash-trained yet. That doesn’t make him dangerous or “rescue-only” — it makes him a puppy in need of guidance, structure, and someone experienced to help him thrive. This boy is urgent and at risk, and the shelter environment is overwhelming for him. He needs a rescue willing to step in before it’s too late. Please share Sid with reputable rescues — his life depends on it.
