GAI started reacting to the TPN and with trial and error we figured out I was reacting to the lipid component, but we still didn't know which part of the SMOF.
Despite being on high doses of prednisone, we went forward with bloodwork which showed that I have a fish allergy. The lipids I've been on, SMOF, contain fish oil.
There is still a chance I'll react to the new lipid, Intralipid. MCAS is so unpredictable and I got my first Xolair a week ago so it still needs time to kick in.
Hopefully with this new TPN, I won't react and I'll be able to get everything I need and start feeling better

KEAlthough we are home Huxley still has to get hooked up to lines every night for TPN and an IV medication.
She isn’t always a fan of it but at least the pole we have at home is way easier for her to push around! And very soon after we connect her it’s time for bed. Even if Huxley is still on her hospital schedule of staying up very late!

CHTPN is a custom mix of vitamins and nutrition for people whose intestines don’t work properly. It is administered through a central line in the chest, usually, and goes directly into the main arteries in the heart and is processed by the liver and kidneys. TPN can kill young children because it put them into liver failure. What is in TPN? A mix of G M O soy protein, sugar, and water, along with whatever vitamins and minerals your child needs (electrolytes etc). And yes, it’s making pharmaceutical companies $1000 per day, and most people never come off of it once they are on. Not to mention, many people who are on TPN have to have their gallbladder removed because they are not eating fat, so the gallbladders are not contracting to expel the bile, and the bile turns into stones. If it’s your only option, then it’s life-saving! But what if doctors recommended dietary changes first?
