📍 Venugopalaswamy Temple
Once located in Kannambadi village, the temple was submerged in the early 1900s when the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) Dam was built. During low water levels, its ruins would re-emerge, revealing glimpses of its past.
To preserve this heritage, the Khoday Foundation undertook the remarkable task of relocating and reconstructing the temple, stone by stone, about 1 km from its original site—now beautifully set beside the KRS backwaters at Hosa Kannambadi.

I get asked this almost every single day. After years of travelling to temples across India, sitting with priests, listening to their realities, this is my honest personal view.
The pandit who performed your puja today woke up before sunrise. He fasted. He chanted mantras he has trained for his entire life to learn. And in many temples, he earns less in a month than what some of us spend on one dinner.
Yes, there are bad experiences. I’ve had them too. But don’t let one aggressive interaction erase the quiet priest in your town who shows up every single morning — even when no one is watching.
Dakshina is not just money. It is a direct exchange of gratitude.
Next time you visit a temple, pause. Think. Then decide consciously.
