BRI made a street library out of a secondhand dollhouse!! 👩🎨 🏠 🧚♀️ 📚
I’ve ALWAYS loved finding little street libraries, so I decided to build my own…🥹 Welcome to Bree’s Book & Chook Nook 🪺 📖 full of my fav reads & fresh eggs! I placed it just outside the chookie playground so our fluffy girls can come say hi to visitors 🐓👋
This was my first time planning a DIY project from start-to-finish, so I thought it could be helpful to document the process ☺️
🧽 1: remove door knobs & clean all surfaces
🎨 2: one coat of primer & two coats of paint
🌷 3: paint decorative artwork - I went with flowers, bees, butterflies & some text: worlds to eggsplore inside, so crack open a book & wing it back at “the end” (cheesy, I know) & then add 2-3 layers of clear top coat
🚪 4: add new doorknobs & a latch to keep the door closed
🪟 5: I had to add perspex windows & waterproofing to keep it weather-proof
🪧 6: create the name sign 🥹 I had a ceramic one made on Etsy!
📚 7: BOOKS 😍 I went to a local op-shop where all the funds go towards bush regeneration so I got a whole bag for a bargain… Win win!
🤓 8: I stamped each book with a custom stamp that says: READ IT • LOVE IT • RETURN IT from the library of Bree’s Book & Chook Nook
👩🏻🔧 9: install it to a fence or the location of your choice!! YAY! 🙌
