Most runners are training wrong. They obsess over pace… when what actually matters is effort. Heart rate changed everything for me. When I stopped chasing pace and started training by heart rate, my running completely leveled up. Why heart rate training works: • keeps your easy runs actually easy • prevents overtraining • builds your aerobic engine faster • lets you adjust for heat, hills, and fatigue • teaches you what the right effort actually feels like Your body doesn’t know pace. It only knows effort. If I could recommend one piece of gear for runners trying to improve, it would be a heart rate monitor. Back on the Boston Marathon training grind! A few weeks of training in the books now, and just over seven weeks left to build fitness. I always feel a little behind in my training when I see competitors out crushing races and posting big workouts. I’m a fan of a 10-week build; I know that I can stay focused and build the right level of fitness in that amount of time, but it still makes me uneasy when I’m getting started. Fortunately, I have years and years of marathon training data collected with @corosglobal and being able to see the Base Fitness graph confirms I can get to where I need to be by race day. It’s always nice to see the days of stacking work reflected on the chart. Excited to push that base fitness mark to new heights by April 21st - let’s go! #trainwithcoros
