JI5 Years. 7,000+ Hours. 1 Custom OS. 0 Regrets.
From the first foam cut in 2021 to the last line of code in 2026, this suit has literally been my (half) life. Beyond the thousands of hours of physical fabrication, I spent a full year developing a custom OS from the ground up to bring the suit to life.
There were several heavy burnout periods along the way, nearly a year’s worth of breaks just to keep myself sane. But, it’s okay to step away… as long as you come back, otherwise it’s all a waste of time.
Project’s Specs:
• Timeline: 2021 – 2026
• Crafting: ~6,100 Hours (Evenings & Weekends)
• Software Dev: 1 Year (Custom OS integration)
• Planning/R&D: Hundreds of hours of unscheduled design & troubleshooting.
• Total Investment: 7,000+ Hours
The suit survived a full-time job, a bunch of “hit a brick wall” moments, and 5 years.
It’s more than a costume. It’s a functional piece of engineering.
