STJourney – Frontiers (1983), First Pressing.
This was the follow-up to their monster hit Escape, which set an almost impossibly high bar. Even so, Frontiers delivered—four hit singles and, in my opinion, one of Journey’s strongest albums.
What makes it even more interesting is learning that two tracks were pulled right before pressing so they could be used on movie soundtracks: “Only the Young” and “Ask the Lonely.” If those songs had made the final cut, Frontiers would have been absolutely unstoppable.
Some rock fans like to poke fun at Journey for being “too soft,” but growing up in the Bay Area, Journey is something we’ve always been proud of.
