This is a Rolex Watch, although not your typical Rolex: this is a Cellini Coin Watch.
Coin watches have a rich and elusive history dating back to the late 19th century. They were originally ordinary coins transformed into functional timepieces utilizing traditional techniques like hollowing out and carving.

Still today one of my most watched videos ever is a simple wristroll and flip of this very same watch: the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute in Gold with a burgundy sunburst dial.
The Reverso was born in 1931 as a rugged solution for British polo players in India, and has since evolved into a horological icon. Known for its patented swiveling case, the Reverso has become a canvas for artistic expression and mechanical ingenuity. At Watches and Wonders 2023, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced four new Reverso Tribute Small Seconds models—three in slimmer 18k pink gold cases and one in stainless steel. While the gold versions boast a refined case thickness of 7.56mm, the steel model (Ref. Q713842J), puzzlingly, retains the older 8.5mm case.
The gold editions, available with sunray-brushed dials in silver, black, and burgundy, pay tribute to the Art Deco roots of the Reverso with applied markers, Dauphine hands, and contrasting small seconds sub-dials. The burgundy dial stands out with its depth, created through a meticulous 24-layer lacquer process. All models are paired with Casa Fagliano leather-and-canvas straps—two for the gold models, and one plus a black alligator strap for the steel version.
Powered by the manual-winding JLC Calibre 822, the watch delivers a 45-hour power reserve and fits seamlessly within the rectangular case. While the pink gold models impress with their elegance and slimmer profile, the decision to withhold this refinement from the steel version leaves enthusiasts with mixed feelings about Jaeger-LeCoultre’s strategy. Nonetheless, the Reverso remains a timeless blend of innovation, craftsmanship, and design.
