GII’m a work-from-home mom without full-time childcare, so my “workday” starts at 5 AM before my toddler wakes up. Here’s how I actually make that happen:
1️⃣ I set EVERYTHING out the night before — my workout clothes, laptop, and my work setup so there’s zero friction in the morning.
2️⃣ I use a programmable coffee maker so I literally wake up to coffee already brewing ☕️
3️⃣ I meal prep something easy for breakfast (usually overnight oats — or I pop in a piece of toast). Being pregnant means food comes before caffeine 🙃
4️⃣ I go to bed EARLY. I aim to be in bed by 9 PM — this was an adjustment, but it changed everything.
5️⃣ I stay off my phone after 8 PM and have Do Not Disturb automatically turn on. No scrolling in bed.
6️⃣ Instead of scrolling, I read until I fall asleep — it helps my brain wind down.
7️⃣ We use the green light method with my toddler’s sound machine — it turns green at 7 AM with birds chirping so he knows it’s “wake-up time.” He often wakes earlier but happily plays in his crib until the light changes. It took practice, but it’s been SO worth it.
Early mornings aren’t magic — they’re just systems. And these small habits make them actually doable.
