• Not allowed for Income Tax payers – New IT payers cannot open APY
• Inflation risk – Fixed pension may lose real value over time
• Low returns – Returns are much lower than market-linked plans
• Pension cap – Maximum pension is limited to ₹5,000 per month
• Taxable pension – Pension income is taxable and must be declared in ITR
• No liquidity – Very limited withdrawal before 60 years
• Long lock-in – Funds are locked for decades
• Not suitable for middle/high-income earners – May not meet retirement needs
