if your friends take 5 business days to text you back and you’re concerned, then this is for you…
what made me not care if someone responds or not is my old friend:
he’d get visibly upset when people didn’t respond to his messages immediately. it was in the days of Facebook. “I can see they’re online - why aren’t they replying?!” he’d say. so embarrassing wdym you admit you care about other people 😭
at that point, I already didn’t care too much if friends didn’t respond. but I made a mental note: care even less so I don’t come across like him 💀 and to always respond to other people. AT LEAST TRY TO. so they don’t become like him.
later on, I realized why my friend was this way: humans are wired to exist in tribes of 100 people, including 5 closest, best friends, family and 15 good friends you can confide in. and he had maybe… 2 or 3? in fact, I might have been his closest friend 😭
and let’s say you’re in a romantic relationship. some people develop attachment issues because their partner becomes their only source of emotional connection, so when that person pulls away, it hits especially hard.
with friendships, it’s almost the same. if one friend doesn’t reply, it sucks. but at least you can turn to others in your circle. so yeah basically I’m sorry to tell you this but if your friend is not replying and you’re sad then you need to find at least 5 other friends cus like can’t depend on one person if you’re not dating them you know?! 😭
