Unlike the „Young Earth“ theory, which suggests Earth is only a few thousand years old, the Old Earth perspective is based on data like the fossil record and radiometric dating of rocks, showing a slow, continuous evolution of life and landscapes over billions of years.
Understanding the vastness of Earth’s history can be humbling, as it places human existence into a much larger context. While modern human civilization has only been around for a few thousand years, it represents a brief moment in Earth’s immense timeline. Throughout its history, Earth has experienced massive extinction events and climate shifts, such as the one that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. These events serve as a reminder of the planet’s power and the delicate balance required for life to thrive.
This concept of „deep time“ can be challenging for the human mind to comprehend, as we are used to thinking in terms of decades or centuries. For the majority of Earth’s history, the planet was a harsh, unrecognizable place filled with strange, prehistoric life and extreme environments. This ancient Earth, far removed from the stable world we know today, evokes both awe and unease as it reminds us of the planet’s unpredictable nature and the potential for future changes beyond our control.

CHClose call at G4 Base camp.
When you think about the risks during an expedition, your mind usually goes to high-altitude dangers, extreme conditions, or unpredictable weather.
You rarely think that Base camp itself might not be safe.
In early July, we found out that the place we’d called home for 40 days… wasn’t that safe after all.
A massive serac broke off from Baltoro Kangri and wiped out all six of our tents.
Luckily, no one was hurt !
The only real loss? My toothpaste. 😅

PEFebruary 6, 2021 was a wild and life changing day. Never in the history of all my riding have I nor the other people there that day experienced such a crazy experience. Lessons were learned, lives were saved and we all returned to our families. Ultimately by gods grace we lived through that. #avalanche Be avvy aware this season and take the time to get avvy certified.

Typical DLB Delt set: 4 rounds of….
☑️ Chest supported DB lateral to front raise combo — ?? reps
☑️ Chest support DB lateral raise — ?? reps
☑️ Standing DB lateral raise — ?? reps
☑️ Dropset DB lateral raise — ?? reps
I honestly really don’t count. I pick a weight that I can do about 8 reps for the first exercise and then you keep the same weight for each variation until the dropset and just rep till you can’t. I just move on when it feels right. Ends up being anywhere from 35-50 reps each set. How many did I do on my last set of this ??? Some may say this is way too much, but my shoulders always loved volume. Give it a try if you dare….
For weight reference: I’m using 20-25 / dropping to 15’s
