Our route, planning logistics & tips ✨👇🏼 We just finished one of the most incredible trips we have ever done, and it was our first time backpacking internationally!! Tbh I was really intimidated to plan something like this, but it ended up being fairly simple and 100% worth the effort!! BOOKING INFO: We booked this trip in January (for a June trip, 5 months prior). This was technically LATE for this trip, leaving us having to piece together some long days and we also decided to go opposite of the traditional route because of this. We booked all of the refuges on montourdumontblanc.com, and they make it really easy to book the refuges in order and tell you approximate times between each. We couldn’t find a refuge in Courmayeur, so instead we booked an apartment for two nights and built in a rest day, which was perfect to reset and do laundry!! ROUTE: day I: Chamonix town > Gîte d’Alpage Les Ecuries de Charamillon 12.31 mi (19.81 km) 4,423 ft gain (1,348 m) day 2: Gîte d’Alpage Les Ecuries de Charamillon > Relias d’arpette II.72 mi (18.86 km) 5,299 ft gain (1,615 m) day 3: Relias d’arpette > Auberge des Glaciers 12.3 mi (19.8 km) 2,448 ft gain (746 m) day 4: Auberge des Glaciers > Courmayeur 19.27 mi (31 km) 5,358 ft gain (1,633 m) day 5: rest day 6: Courmayeur > Refuge de la Balme 23.47 mi (37.77 km) 9813 ft gain (2,991 m) day 7: Refuge de la Balme > La Ferme a Piron 5.53 mi (8.9 km) 190 ft gain (58 m) day 8: La Ferme a Piron > Chamonix town 9.2 mi (14.8 km) 3,240 ft gain (988 m) A FEW TIPS: • you do not need to do this in 8 days like we did!! Most people take 11 days. There are also a few gondolas and buses in certain spots where you can skip sections! You can also just book one or two huts and hike a section of it • I honestly underestimated the difficulty of this hike with all of the elevation gain. Packing light is CRUCIAL. Or, you can spend more $$$ and hire a bag transporting company and just hike with a day pack I have a video coming on the costs and huts soon, let me know what other questions you have!! #tourdumontblanc #backpacking #hikinggear #backpackinglife

5 Tips for Staying Warm while Fall/Winter Camping👇🏻 I am someone who gets VERY COLD, very easily, I’ve had a lot of anxiety around camping & weather. But over the course of the last few years, I’ve picked up some tips that have helped ease my anxiety about cold weather camping! Feel free to add your favorite tips too! 1. Shake out your sleeping bag! This helps evenly distribute the down. A lot of people make this mistake.. myself included until @the_adventureaddicts gave me this tip on a camping trip! It’s also important when you’re done w/ the trip, it keep it stored in a big bag to extend its life & effectiveness. I’ve been using my @mountainhardwear 15 degree bag for the last three years & love it. 2. USE A LINER! This might be my favorite tip because it’s SO effective w/ out breaking the bank! A lot of liners range between $20-80 and it’s 100000% worth it and will keep you warmer! I love my liner from @seatosummit 3. Bring reusable hand warmers! I love mine from @ignikoutdoors. I got them from @rei 4. Boil hot water & put it in your Nalgene & then in your sleeping bag around your core! Makes for an amazing heating pad! 5. Get a sleeping bag with a high R value! Now, if you’re backpacking, just double check weight! But you can also put a blanket or roam accordion pad under the sleeping pad to up your insulation from the cold ground. I love my Nemo Tensor pad from @nemoequipment. 6. Wear a beanie to bed! You lose a lot of warmth around your head, so cover up! Lmk if this was helpful! Good luck camping this season 🫶 #camping #wintercamping #campingtips #backpackingtips Cold Weather Camping Winter Camping Backpacking Tips

Do you feel like I’m missing anything in my backpacking setup? I know different people consider different things “essential,” but for me this setup works great — and the camp shoes and Kindle feel like little luxuries. Well, that and the small skincare kit I tuck into my toiletries (packed into my bear bag for this video) 🫣 Even on the PCT I washed my face every day. I think my biggest aha moment was ditching all the internal stuff sacks. I swear that alone shrunk my bag by 20% or more. Maybe it’s a thru-hiker thing, but there’s something SO satisfying about cutting down pack weight and size. Is this something you care about, or just me? 😂 Anything surprise you? #backpacking #hiking #womenwhohike #backpackingtips

Whew! What a trip 😬🏕️🥾 We were in the backcountry for 6 days and completed 60 miles. I’ll do a separate video on what I ate but my food bag def took up some weight/space! This isn’t the most organized way of packing lmao but here it is! Here’s what I packed: - Gregory 60 L backpack - 3 L water bladder - Water proof bear bag w/ all my food - Nemo tensor all-season sleeping pad - Inflatable pillow - Ultralight hammock set up - Toilet paper & hand sanitizer & pee cloth (Kyle carried the small trowel) - A first aid kit - Bandana - Playing cards - Twinkly lights for the tent (too extra? Maybe, but worth it IMO☺️) - Headlamp - Long handled spork - Mid layer fleece - 15 degree sleeping bag - Merino wool base layers for sleeping - Merino wool socks & undies for 6 days - Puffy - Rain jacket - Insulated sleeve for my DIY backpacking meals - Paracord for hanging bear bag - All my toiletries (i can do a separate video on this if wanted!) - Water shoes for river crossings - Nalgene - Waterproof pack cover - Sit pad - Trekking poles Items I brought but forgot to mention: - power bank + phone/watch charger - fly fishing rod And then Kyle carried our: - Tent - Stove, pot & fuel - Garmin - Water filter We both had bear spray! I bring one outfit to hike in, one to sleep in! Easiest way to keep it lighter weight, just bring extra socks and undies 😄 This was the longest backpacking trip we’ve gone on and it was SO fun, I can’t wait to do more long trips in the future! Be safe out there!!!❤️🏕️🥾 #backpacking #hiking #montana #bears #grizzlybears #fyp #outdoorsygals #backpackingtips #backpackinghacks

Packing tips 👇🏼 #ad A good backpacking pack can make or break your trip and for us, the perfect pack needs three things: an adjustable torso length for a custom fit, an anti-gravity suspension for comfort, and TONS of pockets for easy access! We’ve both used @ospreypacks since we first started backpacking, and we LOVE how comfortable they are and how you can get a super custom fit with all the adjustable straps! Our current Osprey packs are on the smaller side (48L), which is great for overnight trips, but this year, we wanted a pack that could handle multi-night adventures—so we upgraded to the Osprey Aura AG 65L (me) and the Atmos AG 65L (Sentry) and we are SO excited to take them out on the trail this year! But even the best pack will be painful if you don’t pack it correctly so here is how we pack our bags for a multi-night adventure: **always put your FULL water bladder in first- we’ve learned this the hard way 😅 Bottom - we put all of our light, but bulky items towards the bottom which helps to create a cushion for the heavier items and also absorbs some of the shock of the overall pack weight Core - our heavy and dense items go towards the middle of the pack to help create a more stable center of gravity right around the center of our backs. We also like to pad these items with extra pieces of clothing to fill in the air gaps and create a more cushiony feel! Top - The top of the pack is where we put bulky items that we MIGHT need access to on the trail like our water filter and first aid kit Accessory pockets (brain, hip belt, outer pockets, side pockets, etc.) - This is where the Osprey packs shine! They have SO MANY ACCESSORY pockets that we love using for organization. All of our trail essentials are dispersed throughout these pockets like our snacks, headlamps, sos device, toilet kit, sunscreen, sunglasses, extra layers, ect. Gear loops - Finally our trekking poles go in the gear loops for quick access when we’re not actively using them! Once everything is packed we like to TIGHTEN all of the compression straps to keep things secure while we’re hiking! Let us know if you have any questions!! #ospreypacks #ospreypartner
