Nothing gets lost, and I’m not rewriting the same tasks every day. If something doesn’t get done, it’s already there for tomorrow or later in the week, no guilt, no starting over. This is the step I use after a brain dump, when I need to turn everything in my head into something I can actually follow through on. One list. One place. A bit more calm. To-do lists don’t work for my ADHD brain. So here’s how I make my “WTF mind map” instead: 1️⃣ Start with a blank page. 2️⃣ Write the topic in the middle. For my daily brain dump, the topic is literally: WTF For projects, I’ll write the project name in the middle instead. 3️⃣ Dump everything onto the page around it. No organizing yet. Meetings. Emails. Tasks. Ideas. Random thoughts. All of it. 4️⃣ Let it be a pile, not a list. If you need structure to know where to start, lightly number the first 1–2 things only. ***Do not number everything. Once it turns into a list, my brain stops being able to do it. When I can see everything at once, my brain knows where to begin. Feel like your head is constantly swirling with a million things to do? Try this👇 Here’s the backstory: we bought our dream property a few months ago and moved in the first weekend in November. We have literally been searching for a place like this for YEARS, and we have huge vision for creating a legacy property for our kids & a place where people can gather. But man oh man, there is SO MUCH we want/need to do in order to bring our vision to life. About a month ago, my husband was feeling so overwhelmed by all the projects that he was having trouble sleeping. So we decided to walk through a simple process for getting organized that I’ve used for a long time. Here’s how it goes: 1️⃣ Step One: Do a brain dump. Get all those tornadoes out of your head and on to a piece of paper where you can start to make sense of them all. In our case, it was FIVE PAGES of stuff. No wonder we were overwhelmed! 2️⃣ Step Two: Get yourself a pad of @postit and a Sharpie, and write each task on your list on its own sticky note. 3️⃣ Step Three: Find a blank wall or whiteboard, and make the following columns: 🌈 Someday 🗓️ Soon ➡️ Up Next 🔥 In Progress 🎉 All Done 4️⃣ Step Four: Assign each sticky note to a column, and watch in awe as your priorities start to appear and your list of stuff to do right now becomes WAY more manageable! Then celebrate every time you move something across the board! 🎉🎉🎉 It’s so simple but so effective! BRAIN DUMP & TIME-BLOCKING 📝 1️⃣ At the end of every day, write an exhaustive list of everything you have left to do/anything that’s on your mind. 
2️⃣ Decide which tasks are priorities for tomorrow, and which tasks can be done later in the week.

3️⃣ Then, plan out tomorrow down to the very minute, around your priorities. 
For example:
9-9:30am CHECK & RESPOND TO EMAILS 9:30-11am REVENUE ANALYSIS (priority) 11-11:30am CLIENT DATA MEETING 11:30-12:30pm CREATE PAGES ON REV ANALYSIS (priority) Etc. . This will help you get everything out of your head and into a solid plan. 👏🏽 By allocating time to each task (especially those that are priorities), you will have a clear idea of what you WILL get done, rather than spending all evening worrying about whether you’ll get around to it. And doing it the afternoon before means you can truly rest overnight. 😴 - PS: I have a time-blocking template to help you set out your daily priorities, goals & schedule.

Clear the mental clutter. 16:45 – 17:45 | Deep Work (Block 1): Phone in another room. Tackle your hardest subject first while you have daylight. 17:45 – 18:00 | Active Break: Stretch, walk around, or grab more water. No screens yet. 18:00 – 18:45 | Deep Work (Block 2): Finish assignments or do practice problems. 18:45 – 19:45 | Big Break: Dinner + social media time. Why it’s so HARD 👇 Tell me if this rings true: You have trouble sitting your sweet 🍑cheeks down to write…and staying there because of one or more of these reasons: 1️⃣ You don’t know what to write 2️⃣ You know what to write about, but not how to start it 3️⃣ You think it’s not going to be any good. Secret: I suffer from all 3! Yup, this national bestselling author who writes emails to her list 3X a week… …Struggles to stay in the chair. Here’s what I do. It’ll work for you, too: 👇 Problem 1️⃣ TRY FREE-WRITING, THEN PROMPTS I write every morning in my favorite online journaling platform, 750words.com. Most of the time, it’s a free-association brain dump. I type whatever comes into my mind. No pressure to make it good. Lots of repeating thoughts. Lots of mundane details from the day before. (“Freezing out! Went to Citarella, eyeballed a woman’s warm-looking sleeping bag coat & noticed beneath it she was wearing open-toed slippers.”) And, sometimes, all that garbage sparks an idea for an email. But when I still don’t know what to write to my list, I often look through my own prompt guide… ⭐️ STORY GOLDMINE ⭐️ 63 Surprising Places To Mine Your Everyday Life For Stories That Sell Never fails. (Comment “GOLDMINE” & I’ll shoot it over.) Problem 2️⃣ WRITE IT ALL, THEN CUT THE 1ST PARAGRAPH I usually start with a lot of “throat clearing”—at least 1 paragraph that ends up being unnecessary, but that’s how I get into my story. Most of the time, I end up cutting that 1st paragraph. The story’s much better without it. Problem 3️⃣ WRITE IT SH*TTY Take the pressure off! Set out to write the worst 💩 you can, as fast as you can. Don’t edit. Don’t stop bc it sucks. If it sucks, you’re doing it right. Then, go back & edit later. Writing 💩 is always better than writing nothing. And, usually, it’s better than something you set out to write beautifully & perfectly.
