Ahead of Purim, which begins the evening of March 2, owner Keith Cohen gave us some history on the bakery and a preview of their hamentaschen for the holiday. This year is @orwashers 110th anniversary, and it also happens to be Cohen’s 18th year owning the bakery. You can visit the original Orwashers on the Upper East Side, or their other location on the Upper West Side.

Babka pie crust!?! You know you are always looking for the yummiest flakiest pie crust, so look no further. This is an awesome way to use up leftover babka or even sweet challahs! Think of it like a french toast pie. 😊 Simply slice your leftover babka into 1/2” slices. Cut into swirl sized squares. Mix together 1 egg and 1/3 cup milk, heavy cream, or plant milk. Dip your babka into the egg and milk mixture and shake off the excess. Press into a greased pie pan. Cover the bottom completely, squishing the pieces to make them fit together snuggly. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes or until golden. Let cool completely before filling. Creamy pudding fillings work best. (I used chocolate pudding base and whipped topping) Fill and refrigerate for 4 hours until set. #dessert #jewishfood #babka
