✨ Save for later ✨
Process : White Bread (Preferably Stale/ Day Old)
* Pulse the day old/ stale bread slices in a blender until it breaks downs & forms a coarse powder - you can make it as fine as you like, I prefer it being coarse for a nice crunch
* Heat up a saucepan & add in the broken down bread crumbs - toast them on low heat until evenly brown - Stir constantly
* Turn the heat off & allow them to cool down- break down bigger chunks of the bread crumbs using your fingers
* Once the bread crumbs have cooled completely - store them in a airtight jar and use them as you like☺️🫙🥖

I have personally never purchased store-bought breadcrumbs as my family and I have been making our own for as long as I can remember. Not only are you supporting a local bakery by purchasing your favourite bakery bread, but the taste is unbeatable. We store our breadcrumbs in a reusable freezer bag in the freezer which lasts us up to six months. The best part is, we don’t even need to thaw them, they stay perfectly fresh and don’t clump up. We use breadcrumbs for our homemade chicken cutlets, chicken parm, and any recipe that requires breading. This method is perfect because you can make a big batch and always have it on hand. The nuttiness from the good quality parmigiano reggiano in combination with the delicious bakery bread is simply unmatched. I have tried store bought breadcrumbs before from others that used them around me and the difference is night and day. With just two ingredients, you can elevate any dish so I hope you give these a try!

2 fresh baguettes — cut into pieces and dried overnight
2 cups of freshly grated parmigiano reggiano — good quality cheese only
dry herbs are optional — you can add oregano, parsley, Italian seasoning or anything you wish

✨You will need a very powerful blender or food processor for this recipe. Our zio Iginio used to grate them on a grater but this method is very time consuming.
