SAHere’s a quick candle-making tutorial with specific temperatures if you want to try DIY candles at home. 😊
1. Melt the Wax
Use a double boiler or a wax melter.
Heat the wax to 185°F (85°C)—this ensures proper melting and binding with fragrance.
2. Add Fragrance Oil
Remove wax from heat and let it cool to 175-185°F (79-85°C) before adding fragrance oil.
Stir slowly for 1-2 minutes to ensure even distribution.
Typical fragrance load: 6-10% (e.g., for 1 lb of wax, use 1 oz of fragrance).
3. Prep Containers & Wicks
While wax cools, secure wicks with wick stickers or hot glue.
Use wick holders to keep them centered.
4. Pour the Wax
Ideal pouring temp: 135-145°F (57-63°C) for most waxes.
Pour slowly to reduce air bubbles.
5. Cure & Trim
Let candles sit undisturbed at room temp for at least 24 hours (soy needs 1-2 weeks for best scent throw).
Trim wicks to ¼ inch before lighting.

FR5 things you need to know before starting to make candles:
1. Not all wax is created equal — Some waxes burn dirty, hold fragrance poorly, or crack weirdly. Choosing the right wax makes all the difference in how your candle performs!
2. Wick size MATTERS — Too big and your candle becomes a bonfire. Too small and it tunnels. Testing different sizes is not optional if you want a clean, even burn.
3. Fragrance quality impacts everything — I learned quickly that not all oils are clean or safe. Choosing high-quality, non-toxic oils (free from parabens & phthalates) means a better experience with less headaches — literally.
4. Curing time is key — I used to pour and burn right away (oops). But candles need time to cure so the scent throws properly — patience pays off!
5. Running a business is more than making candles — Marketing, packaging, customer service, and accounting take just as much time as actually pouring wax. But it’s so worth it. 💛
