Here's how to give feedback to others without sounding hostile It's all in the melody of your voice. People can sense when you are being condescending through how your voice sounds, even when you're not trying to be! So whatever framework you use to give feedback, it won't matter if the melody isn't right. If you want to learn more frameworks to speak with more clarity under pressure whether in professional or personal contexts, comment FRAMEWORK and I'll send you my free 2 hour training on communication frameworks :)

Want to transform your communication skills? Start with this self-awareness exercise. Record yourself speaking for 5 minutes on any topic. Leave it for a day (this removes the initial self-criticism). Then review it in three stages: Stage 1: Watch on mute Focus purely on body language. What are your hands doing? How do your facial expressions support your message? Notice your posture and movement patterns. Stage 2: Listen without watching Turn the phone around and just listen. Pay attention to vocal qualities: your pace, volume, tone variations, and energy levels. What do you like? What needs work? Stage 3: Get it transcribed This reveals your communication patterns in black and white. You'll spot repetition, circular reasoning, filler words, and structural issues you never noticed before. One session gives you 5-10 concrete improvement areas. That's your roadmap to becoming a more effective communicator. Repost @askvinh

The biggest mistake people make with their voice? Sticking to one rate of speech. Most speakers either rush through everything or drag it out painfully slow. Both kill engagement fast. PS. If you want to learn the fundamentals of great communication - comment AMPLIFY and I'll send you my free 3 part video series! Here's what actually works: vary your rate of speech with purpose. The rule is simple. When something is important, slow down. Let it land. Give your audience time to absorb the weight of what you're saying. When it's less critical information, speed up. Keep the momentum going. This creates natural rhythm in your communication. What starts as engaging stays engaging because you're using vocal variety as a strategic tool. Think about it. Even the perfect pace becomes monotonous if you never change it. Your voice needs dynamics the same way music needs tempo changes. Try this in your next presentation or conversation. Notice where you naturally want to emphasize something, then intentionally slow down for those moments. Your audience will lean in without even realizing why.
