SQFor centuries, sailors whispered of a colossal sea serpent that haunted the treacherous waters sailors once called the Devil’s Current a violent stretch of ocean where storms brewed without warning and compasses spun wildly. According to the weathered journals of the infamous pirate Edward Teach, strange sightings were recorded during long voyages through the Atlantic. One entry describes a creature “longer than three ships laid end to end,” its dark scaled body cutting through the waves as lantern-like eyes burned through the night fog. Crew members reportedly refused to sail after dusk, claiming they could hear the massive coils of something moving beneath the hull.
Another account comes from the crew of pirate captain Bartholomew Roberts, who ruled the seas in the early 1700s. Survivors of a storm near the Caribbean wrote that after lightning split the sky, a monstrous serpent rose from the black water, its neck arching high above the mast. Roberts’ navigator swore the beast followed their vessel for miles, weaving through the waves like a living trench in the sea. Some believed it was drawn by the vibrations of cannon fire or the scent of blood after naval battles. Others insisted the serpent was an ancient guardian of the deep, awakened whenever too many ships trespassed through its territory.
Even earlier tales link the creature to pirate legend Henry Morgan, whose fleet once sailed through fog so thick the men said the ocean felt alive beneath them. Several sailors claimed they saw an enormous spine break the surface, followed by a tail powerful enough to churn the sea into towering walls of foam. Whether the serpent was a relic from a forgotten age perhaps some surviving leviathan from prehistoric oceans—or simply a myth born from fear and darkness, the legend endured. To this day, fishermen in remote waters still tell stories of something vast moving beneath their boats, a shadow that coils through the deep as if the old pirate warnings were never meant to fade

What makes it impressive is that entire bridges, machines, and buildings were designed this way—purely through skill, patience, and deep understanding of mathematics and physics.
At the core of this process is technical drawing, which ensures that ideas can be accurately translated into real-world structures.
Every drawing had to communicate exact dimensions, materials, and tolerances so that builders could follow it without confusion. One small mistake could mean redoing hours of work.
