BLEven small random animated things going around your models can add some needed interest in the scene. This is exactly what the Random Flow add-on in Blender is capable of doing. Starting with a preset and some small modifications in the redo parameters will give you the simplest geometry that can give the illusion of being a debris field in a dilapidated space station or whatever sci-fi structure you may have. It's all about using the random operators and layering their result to amplify the believability of the design you're trying to achieve.
