Some reasons for activating your right cortex: 🧠 1. Pain on the right side of your body 2. Repetitive tissue injury on your right side 3. Muscle tone issues on the right side 4. Improve coordination/accuracy on your left side 5. Imorove stability on your right side 6. Decrease blood pressure on your right side 7. Improve strength (neural drive) to your left side 8. Improve sensory issues on your left side 9. Improve hearing on your left side 10. Improve sense of smell on your right side No matter what your goal is, it lives somewhere in the brain! Understanding brain activation patterns allows you to target just about anything that you want!🤓 👋🏻 Hi, I’m Taylor Kruse, a movement educator/coach who’s passionate about neuroscience. 🧠 Motion Guidance Therapy: Training the Brain Through Movement Motion Guidance therapy helps the brain better understand where the body is in space. Patients wear a small laser on the head and trace patterns on a wall—activating three critical systems at once: 👀 Visual system – what you see 🌀 Vestibular system – how your inner ear senses movement 🦴 Proprioceptive system – signals from neck muscles and joints These systems meet in the brain’s central vestibular system, improving symmetry, efficiency, and communication. This therapy is especially helpful for neck pain, headaches, migraines, concussions, and whiplash-related injuries. ✨ When these systems work together, the brain works better. *This is for educational purposes only and not medical advice. 👉 Schedule an evaluation — link in bio 📍 Neurologic Wellness Institute Boca Raton, FL | Chicago, IL | Waukesha, WI | Wood Dale, IL #Neuroplasticity #MotionGuidance #VestibularRehab #Concussion #ConcussionRecovery

More often than not, one side of the body/brain is the prime mover of our automatic operating systems. The other side takes a backseat and tends to require a bit more frontal lobe involvement to be kick in. This can be impacted by a multitude of things: injury, disease, and even eyewear prescription. The side that’s “less neurologically competent” isn’t bad or weak, it just lacks access to instinctive adaptation, and instead needs some more intentional assistance. Hence why it’s pretty easy to clear up short term, but of course always needs some love. The opponens pollicis is the meaty muscle in your thumb we’re testing here, however, if the test seems difficult on both sides, maybe switch hands or recruit a different indicator muscle. Why clearing this up works: typically, the side of the body that fails this test is the side that’s also less proprioceptively aware. Maybe you struggle with balance on this side, accidentally bruise yourself often or feel like it’s your “problem side”. The eyes are the windows into your nervous system.. literally. Eye movement precedes neck movement, and when the eyes are restricted, the neck is also. If the eyes are resistant toward one side, it’s a blaring alarm that the brain feels unsafe in the direction. The VOR challenge acts as a strategic pep talk.. assuring the brain and body that no threat awaits on that side. Once the frontal lobe interprets safety, automatic operating systems are restored.. symmetrically. Try it out and let me know how it feels! #neurohack #nervoussystemreset #proprioception #vestibuloocularreflex #muscletesting

Tension in the body is a protective response. If you try and remove that tension all at once with force, it can be highly threatening for the brain. Tension has a functional purpose. It’s not the enemy it’s the hero. It’s a compensation that only considers your short-term survival and not your long-term health. That’s how the brain works. Tight feeling suboccipitals are usually related to vision and vestibular issues. Although, it can also be a compensation for other postural concerns too. Think about your suboccipital muscles as the fine motor control for the cradle that supports your head and eyes. If you’ve been trying to resolve neck issues and releasing muscles isn’t helping or making things worse, try vision work! 👉🏻Join our FREE Cranial Nerve Masterclass introducing you to the neurology of movement and the role your cranial nerves play in balancing muscle tone, restoring posture, and reducing pain. 👉🏻We will be live on Tuesday, February 17th at 1pm EST and a replay will be available for all who sign up. Trigeminal and Facial nerve glides are a super powerful tool for neck and jaw tension, headaches and more! If you want to target the trigeminal or facial nerve on your right side then you’ll laterally tilt to the left and glide your jaw left. To target your left side, tilt right and glide your jaw right. If you happen to feel any tension in your face or around your jaw, keep it very gentle. A 3/10 in intensity is all you need! Make sure to assess your response to each side and let me know how it goes! 🫵🏻 We are enrolling new students in our neuro courses. Doors close TONIGHT! (Feb 27th) Are you ready to earn neuro ninja status? Be sure to check out our recent free cranial nerve masterclass. You’ll gain huge insight into how to train using applied neurology AND you’ll unlock big savings. Hope to see you on the inside! 🧠

💫let’s dive into this one . 🧠 your brain has built in reflexive systems to help coordinate your movement in space so it knows exactly where you are in relationship to your environment . 🌀 the Vestibulo-Ocular-Reflex is one of those reflexes and it it’s the automated ability to keep your eyes steady as your head moves. . 🤯 so while this is a reflex, you can also train it!! Supporting your brain with something *super vital* for day to day things like…. Walking, moving, anything like that. . 🥰 when the brain feels more confident (because you’re training it) on super basic but vital tasks, it frees up your energy for other things. . ❤️ working on VOR could improve things like: ✅ chronic pain symptoms ✅ balance issues ✅ sensory mismatch issues like motion sickness ✅ overall muscular tension issues ✅ overall safety in the nervous system . 🙏🏼 I teach you how to assess your VOR in my self-guided neuro somatic workbook so you know if it’s supportive to you or not!! (I also teach you other gentle, super accessible ways to support your brainstem and nervous system in it) . 🥰 and by request, I am offering a supported option for the workbook as well!! So you can purchase the workbook with mini 1:1 sessions with me so we can work through your exact needs together . 💫 comment WORKBOOK I’ll dm you the link :) . 👇🏻 thoughts/insights/questions??
