TIDATASONICA is an audio-reactive visual installation that transforms environmental data into sound and light. Commissioned by @future_botanic for the panel discussion “Narrating Planetary Crisis: Art, Data, and the Language of Sustainability” during London Art+Climate Week 2025, the work offers a new way to see and listen to climate data.
📊 Using a network of sensors embedded within the building management system of the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab Building 59, which is monitoring and archiving building level outdoor and indoor environmental data, DATASONICA captures continuous streams of air temperature, humidity levels, solar radiation, and dew point data.
🌧️ These variables are processed through a custom data sonification system that maps each dataset to a specific sonic parameter: temperature modulates pitch, humidity influences amplitude, solar radiation drives harmonic texture, and dew point defines tonal decay.
📹 The resulting visual composition is a dynamic ecosystem driven by the sonic composition. Here, data becomes resonance and architecture becomes instrument. Light and sound react in real time, forming an orchestral dialogue between the building and its surrounding environment.
🏙️ DATASONICA extends the conceptual framework of my series’ “The Building Orchestra”, proposing architecture as a sentient body that listens, feels, and performs the data it generates. It reimagines environmental sensing not as surveillance or measurement, but as a collaboration between systems, humans and the climate itself.
📈 By translating invisible climate phenomena into sonic and visual form, DATASONICA invites audiences to experience data not as abstraction, but as presence and a continuous signal of planetary change.

A project, an article, an interactive exploration that dives deep into the data that connects humans with birds, by looking at how we search for birds.
After several months of analysis, design, drawing, writing, and coding (and a little bit of birdwatching), it turned into a fully dataviz-driven, vibrant, whimsical and fun interactive story for birders and anybody even remotely interested in birds 🦉
Full of custom, interactive visuals (a giant nest, a giant egg, the US made up of eggs!) to explore people’s experience with birds, how we search for them, perceive them and identify them. It’s full of insights, funny outliers and visuals you can lose yourself in trying to explore all that the vast amount of bird data has to offer. And can I please ask you to find the Burrowing Owl or Muscovy Duck and look at their photos if you want to start your day with some cuteness overload ❣️

AL✨ We are incredibly proud to have collaborated with artist Daniel Canogar on the fabrication of Shimmer, a generative sculptural artwork installed in March 2024 at the atrium of GEMÜ in Kupferzell, Germany.
This remarkable piece transforms real-time data from six major German rivers — including the Rhine, Elbe and Danube — into a dynamic display of colour, rhythm, and light. Shimmer poetically bridges the technical world of GEMÜ with the fluid essence of natural waterways, reminding us that data, like rivers, sustains contemporary life.
Thank you, Daniel, for trusting us to bring this powerful vision into sculptural form.

MASpecimens of Time: Tide is a real-time light sculpture driven by live tidal data from the Great Barrier Reef.
