Together with my friend @vertigo1983 , we came across this watch a few months ago in Dubai during @dubaiwatchweek , while visiting the Seddiqi Rolex CPO store. This wasn’t just a Day-Date 36 Ref. 118238—it was a full-on expression of early-2000s Rolex opulence. On the wrist, the 36mm yellow gold case feels perfectly balanced—substantial but never overwhelming. The pavé diamond dial is unapologetically bold, yet executed with the precision you expect from Rolex. Every diamond is evenly set, creating a uniform shimmer rather than visual chaos. The classic day display at 12 o’clock and date at 3 remain instantly legible, reminding you that beneath all the glamour, this is still a functional tool watch at heart. The President bracelet deserves special mention. Fully diamond-set on this example, it drapes effortlessly around the wrist and reinforces the unmistakable Day-Date identity—regal, confident, and comfortable. Inside, the Caliber 3155 quietly does its job, delivering the reliability and precision that made Rolex’s reputation. Handling this watch firsthand made one thing clear: the Day-Date 118238 isn’t about subtlety.
