We’ve demonized the biological norm. We made mothers feel like failures for following their instincts. And then we gave it all new names… as if sleeping with your baby was this radical, alternative choice that needed its own category. This isn’t about independent sleep vs dependent it’s about recognizing what is natural… your baby wanting to be close to you isn’t a sleep problem. It’s biology. It’s attachment. It’s exactly what they’re designed to do. And incase you need to hear this today… You’re not doing anything wrong by keeping them close.

Sure I love me some “real foods,” but there is so much more nuance to food and nutrition than that message. I’ve been thinking about it lately when I’ve been eating. Would this bagged salad kit count as real food? I’ve certainly heard it demonized by influencers, meanwhile it was the only way I was eating veggies the other night. Would my stirfry count as real food? I would hope so. I happened to make the sauce but sometimes I use store bought…what about then? Is homemade ice cream but not store bought? A potato but not a potato chip?!? Of course what we add to food and how nutrient-dense it is matters. But we need to account for the reality of our lives. Sometimes the best choice may not be the “healthiest” but it’s all that’s available. Curious how you feel about eat real food? I feel too close to the topic, and have too many thoughts and feelings. And yes I think making potatoes and serving them as a balanced meal is more nutritious than eating potato chips. But diets can have both! And it’s all real food to me 🍠🍿
