DOWhy ESR increases !
ESR is Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate which can increase due to many causes like infection / inflammation/ malignancy.
Even as simple a thing as anemia (low Hemoglobin) can increase your ESR. A mild cold can increase your ESR.
But there are some disease processes which can lead to very high levels of ESR and we need to be aware of those:
1.) Tuberculosis
2.) Rheumatoid Arthitis
3.) Giant cell arteritis ( leads to headache )
So if your ESR is high and you have chronic cough/ weight loss/ loss of appetite/ joint pain/ temporal headache (pulsating), you need to consult your doctor and find the cause 👍
